Abstract

Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs), like other financial institutions, own critical assets that must be protected against attackers even as the threat landscape continue to rise. Hackers and attackers target to penetrate the SACCOs network through weak points that they can exploit to steal from them. This research offers a solution through provision of a web-based model that helps to determine security risk exposure index (SREI) of the SACCOs based on ISO 27001 standards. The model indicate the level of exposure and then provide recommendations that require the attention of organization’s in order to reduce exposure.  The model in this research is implemented by adopting design research approach.
